The Luzerne County Historical Society is proud to announce it is once again hosting a holiday program. On Saturday and Sunday, December 5th and 6th, 2026, the Society will host “A Swetland Family Christmas”, at the Swetland Homestead, 885 Wyoming Avenue in Wyoming. This years event will focus on Civil War Era Christmas.

Inside the house, guests will be transported to the 1860s and will learn all about the holiday season during the 19th century.See what passed for decorations, and learn all about how, Christmas Day, once a new and strange celebration, has exploded in popularity.
