Church Pew Giveaway

As part of the renovation of the former St. Cecilia’s Parrish, the Luzerne County Historical Society would like to invite former parishioners, supporters, and community members who would like one of the church pews, to come to the church grounds at 1700 Wyoming Avenue, Exeter, on Thursday, May 8, from 3pm – 6pm.
The diocese has rehomed a few pews, and the LCHS will be incorporating some of the pews into the new museum, so we would like to offer the remainder to the community. The pews will available to anyone who wants one, provided you can move and transport them. The pews vary in size, but most are larger (10 feet and longer) although some do come apart. The pews are available on a first come, first served basis.
The pews are from the 1977 reconstruction of St. Cecilia’s Church, after the original 1902 church burned down in 1972. This begins the first phase of the church project, as the 167-year-old LCHS transforms the 122-year-old parish in a new history museum and community space, and ushers in a new era, located in the heart of our Valley’s Revolutionary history, just as the nation will be celebrating its 250th birthday next year.
