$10 – $15

The Luzerne County Historical Society announced it would host a brand-new walking tour of Gilded Age buildings on the picturesque campus of Wilkes University on Sunday, June 30th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This tour will take participants to five historic buildings on campus for an unforgettable journey into the past.

These include Rifkin Hall (1875), a stunning example of Victorian architecture; Conyngham Hall (1897), a grand mansion with a rich history; Weckesser Hall (1914-1916), a beautiful building that now serves as the administrative offices at Wilkes; Kirby Hall (1873-1874), a historical landmark with a unique story; and Chase Hall (1917-1918). Of the five buildings, participants should note that Rifkin Hall and Kirby Hall are not ADA compliant.”

Parking will be available in the campus lot accessed from South Franklin Street behind the Henry Student Center (84 West South Street), where participants will register, receive a tour map, and be free to visit the homes in any order they prefer, enhancing their personal experience of the tour.

Society volunteers at each location will provide information about the history and significance of each house. Reservations are not required but strongly recommended. Tour tickets are $10 for Society members and $15 for non-members. Children under 12 can also join the tour for free, making it a family-friendly event.
